Hey groovy friends! Well first I need to talk about Friday night. The gig was a blast! It's always fun getting to play with really fantastic musicians. I hadn't played a live gig in a couple of months so I certainly felt some of the rust as it relates to my musical reflexes. But I'm glad I put in the prep time that day so those diminished live reflects weren't really noticeable... all in all, a really enjoyable night. So then I took a day off Saturday from all things percussion. I think it's good to work in a day off here and there for sure!

Today I got the gear from Friday unloaded from the car so I'll be set for practicing this week. I decided this evening would be a marimba practice kind of night. Spent about 1.5 hours working slowly thru the ending of Land... I'm working backwards on this one. I don't really have a great reason why, but sometimes I like to go from the end instead of the beginning when I learn a piece of music like this. I guess if you think about it, being super comfortable with the end of a piece is a decent strategy to "finish strong". I just like to change things up once in a while🙂 Was a good session overall...I still get mildly frustrated that I don't learn pieces as quickly as I was able to in college, but it's ok. I'll trudge onward. Looking forward to a productive week!
